Hard Money, Even Split

The idea
I believe governments keep debasing currency, so I want exposure to the two assets that genuinely can't be printed: bitcoin, capped at an amount coins, and gold, its slower-moving cousin. The take splits roughly evenly between them, spread across several spot funds per side so no single holding is more than a quarter of the basket. I keep a small cash buffer to add on the sharp drawdowns this kind of decade-long bet will bring, and I'd rethink it if either asset's scarcity story actually broke.
What it owns
- An asset with a hard cap of twenty-one million coins that no government can print more of. · iShares Bitcoin TrustIt holds actual bitcoin and tracks the price directly as the largest spot bitcoin fund., Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin FundIt holds actual bitcoin with Fidelity custodying the coin directly, spreading the bitcoin allocation across multiple fund issuers., ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETFIt holds bitcoin with one of the lowest fees in the group, which matters during a decade-long holding period., Bitwise Bitcoin ETFIt holds spot bitcoin through an issuer focused only on crypto, rounding out the bitcoin allocation so no single fund dominates the take.45%
- The same scarcity bet with a five-thousand-year track record, and it tends to move more steadily than bitcoin during sharp declines. · SPDR Gold MiniShares TrustIt holds physical gold bars at the lowest fee among gold trusts, which compounds over long holding periods., iShares Gold TrustIt holds physical gold with large trading volumes, making it easy to add to positions during sharp price declines., SPDR Gold SharesIt is the original and most traded gold fund, completing the roughly even split between bitcoin and gold., abrdn Physical Gold Shares ETFIt holds physical gold in Swiss vaults under a different issuer, spreading the storage location and custodian of the gold allocation.45%
