AI Hardware Buildout

The idea
I believe big tech keeps spending heavily on AI data centers over the next couple of years, so this take owns every layer those centers need in equal measure: chips, memory and storage, networking, power, and cooling, each at a fifth of the portfolio with no single name weighted heavier than another. I'm not trying to guess which layer wins, just that the buildout continues. It holds a 10% cash cushion to add if markets get nervous about spending peaking in 2027. If that worry takes hold and sticks, I'd reconsider the whole idea.
What it owns
- The processors that perform the actual artificial intelligence work represent the largest component of every data center budget. · NVIDIA CorporationIt supplies most of the processors that artificial intelligence data centers are built around., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company LimitedIt manufactures the advanced chips designed by NVIDIA, AMD and Broadcom, so it benefits regardless of which chip maker gains share., Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.It serves as the main alternative to NVIDIA for artificial intelligence chips, gaining when large technology companies want a second supplier., Broadcom Inc.It designs custom artificial intelligence chips for the largest technology companies and also makes networking chips that link them together.18%
- Artificial intelligence chips require fast memory and large storage capacity to function, and both have faced supply constraints. · Western Digital CorporationIt makes the high-capacity hard drives that data centers use to store vast amounts of data at scale., Micron Technology, Inc.It produces the high-speed memory that sits next to every artificial intelligence chip in data centers., Sandisk CorporationIt makes the flash storage that artificial intelligence data centers need to hold the huge volumes of data their models train on., Seagate Technology Holdings plcIt is the other major maker of high-capacity hard drives that data centers rely on for affordable bulk storage.18%
- Thousands of chips must communicate at high speed within data centers, requiring switches, cables and optical components. · Arista Networks, Inc.It manufactures the network switches that connect thousands of artificial intelligence chips inside data centers so they can operate together., Credo Technology Group Holding LtdIt makes the high-speed cables and chips that carry data between artificial intelligence servers in data center clusters., Ciena CorporationIt builds the optical equipment that links data centers to each other over long distances as artificial intelligence work spreads across multiple sites., Lumentum Holdings Inc.It manufactures the lasers and optical components inside the fiber links that move data around artificial intelligence data centers.18%
- New data centers require enormous amounts of electricity, and both power equipment and supply have become significant bottlenecks. · GE Vernova Inc.It builds the gas turbines and grid equipment that new data centers need to secure power supply., Vistra Corp.It owns power plants that can sell electricity directly to data centers, which require enormous amounts of continuous power., Constellation Energy CorporationIt operates the largest fleet of nuclear plants in the United States, providing the constant, carbon-free power that major technology companies seek for data centers., Bloom Energy CorporationIt makes fuel cells that allow data centers to generate their own power on site rather than waiting for grid connections.18%
- Dense artificial intelligence server racks generate substantial heat, so every new data center requires advanced cooling and thermal equipment. · Vertiv Holdings CoIt sells the cooling and power equipment positioned directly next to artificial intelligence servers, where liquid cooling has become standard., Modine Manufacturing CompanyIt manufactures chillers and cooling systems for data centers, a fast-growing segment of its overall business., Trane Technologies plcIt is one of the largest makers of large-scale cooling systems, and data centers represent a rapidly expanding customer base., nVent Electric plcIt makes the enclosures, liquid cooling parts and electrical connections that go inside data center server racks.18%
