The idea
I believe Europe's air conditioning boom is just starting, pushed by repeated heatwaves and climate change turning cooling into a necessity rather than a luxury. Since the biggest pure AC makers aren't listed in the US, I built this around heat pump leaders with real European exposure, pure cooling equipment makers, and the parts and refrigerant suppliers inside every unit regardless of brand. No single name dominates, I keep a modest cash cushion, and I'm holding this for years as a structural bet on Europe finally catching up on cooling.
What it owns
- These makers sell the heat pumps that EU subsidies push into European homes, and every one of them cools in summer too. · Carrier GlobalIt owns Viessmann, one of the largest heat pump businesses installed in European homes, making it a direct way to own the belief that heatwaves push Europeans toward cooling., Trane TechnologiesIt sells climate systems for commercial buildings across Europe, the offices and hospitals that heatwaves make unbearable first., Johnson ControlsIt cools big buildings, and Europe's stock of offices and public buildings was built for a climate that no longer exists., A. O. SmithIt makes heat pump water heaters, the quieter side of the electrification push that drives this take.35%
- These companies sell the air conditioners that Europeans buy after each heatwave, riding growing demand as summers get hotter. · Lennox InternationalIt is close to a pure bet on air conditioning equipment, so rising cooling spending shows up quickly in its sales., AAONIt builds premium rooftop cooling units for stores, warehouses and data centers that need serious cooling as heat increases., SPX TechnologiesIt engineers cooling systems rather than selling finished units, so it wins on the infrastructure side of a world that needs more cooling., Modine ManufacturingIt makes the heat transfer hardware inside cooling systems and gets paid whoever sells the finished unit, capturing the supply-chain side of cooling growth.30%
- Refrigerants, motors, coils and valves that every new cooling or heating unit needs, whichever brand wins the sale. · Solstice Advanced MaterialsIt makes next-generation refrigerants that every new European unit will need as the EU phases out older gases., ChemoursIt makes low-global-warming-potential refrigerants that EU rules increasingly require inside every air conditioner and heat pump sold there., Regal RexnordIt makes the motors that spin inside HVAC equipment, so it collects from every unit sold regardless of brand., Dover CorporationIt supplies heat exchangers, a core part inside heat pumps, offering a way to own the European heat pump build-out without picking which brand wins., Watts Water TechnologiesIt makes the controls and valves for hydronic systems, the water-based heating and cooling common in European buildings where heat pumps get plumbed in.29%
