The idea
I believe Kazakhstan is on the verge of producing a billion-dollar tech company, and the broader economy stands to rise with it. Since that future unicorn isn't public yet, I built around what is buyable now: Kaspi and Freedom Holding as the core, surrounded by uranium miners, Western oil majors with major Kazakh projects, and frontier-market funds holding the banks and internet names you can't buy directly on a US exchange. It's a long, structural bet, broad by design, with 10% kept in cash.
What it owns
- These are the only direct US-listed ways to own Kazakhstan's digital economy, so they carry the heart of the take. · Kaspi.kzIt is the payments, shopping, and banking app most of Kazakhstan runs on, so the take depends on user growth and payment volume staying strong inside the country., Freedom Holding CorpIt is an Almaty-built brokerage and banking group that grows if more Kazakhs invest and bank digitally, with regulators staying permissive., VEON LtdIt owns Beeline Kazakhstan, the mobile network a booming startup scene runs on, so the take needs that market to stay one of its strongest.41%
- Kazakhstan's vast uranium reserves mean a global nuclear energy revival channels investment into the country. · Global X Uranium ETFIt holds uranium miners including Kazatomprom directly, so it wins if uranium demand stays firm and Kazakh production keeps its place at the center of world supply., Sprott Uranium Miners ETFIt tilts heavily toward uranium miners themselves, which move more when uranium prices rise, so it pays off if the Kazakh-led supply story keeps uranium tight., Cameco CorporationIt operates joint ventures with Kazatomprom on Kazakh soil, so it profits directly from Kazakh uranium production and partnership reliability.26%
- Chevron and Exxon run some of their biggest projects in Kazakhstan, tying their output to the country's growth. · Chevron CorporationIt runs Tengiz, one of its biggest projects anywhere, so a rising Kazakh economy with stable politics flows straight into its earnings., ExxonMobil CorporationIt holds a major stake in Kashagan, the giant Kazakh offshore field, so it collects if Kazakhstan booms and its oil keeps flowing to world markets.15%
- These funds hold the Kazakh banks and internet companies that have no US listing of their own. · FMQQ Next Frontier Internet ETFThe fund holds frontier-market internet companies across Central Asia, gaining exposure to Kazakh banks and platforms unavailable through direct US trading.8%
