The idea
I believe a widening deficit keeps pressuring the dollar, and energy stays the thing the whole world fights over, so I want real assets tied to the physical stack that powers it. This basket leans into the bottleneck: grid and electrical gear, copper and industrial metals, nuclear and uranium, plus energy producers and midstream pipelines, with a small cash buffer. I skip single-name concentration by spreading across the stack, hold gold and bitcoin elsewhere, and plan to stay in this for a few years unless the underinvestment thesis in power and metals clearly breaks.
What it owns
- Transformers, switchgear, and power equipment are the constraint where data-center and factory demand collides with decades of underinvestment. · EatonSupplies the electrical hardware that goes into both data centers and factories, benefiting from years of catch-up spending on equipment backlogs., GE VernovaMakes the turbines and grid equipment sitting in the bottleneck between power plants and the infrastructure that needs power., Quanta ServicesProvides the construction crews actually building and upgrading the grid to connect new power demand from data centers and factories., VertivProvides the power and cooling gear inside data centers and depends directly on data center construction momentum., HubbellMakes the unglamorous small parts that utilities buy in volume when upgrading the grid to handle new demand.30%
- Every data center, robot factory, and grid upgrade is built from copper and specialty metals that cannot be printed or replaced. · Freeport-McMoRanThe largest US-listed copper producer, and data centers, grids, and robot factories are all wired with copper that cannot come from existing supply alone., Southern CopperOperates some of the lowest-cost copper mines globally, staying profitable even if prices fluctuate while copper remains essential to the whole stack., Teck ResourcesProvides copper and zinc, the industrial metals essential to factory and grid buildout pulling on base metal supply., MP MaterialsMines and processes the rare earth magnets that robot factories need for motors, and US sourcing remains a priority.22%
- Data centers require around-the-clock power, and nuclear is the only clean source that delivers it consistently. · CamecoSupplies a large share of western uranium, working as long as reactor life extensions and new demand continue to outrun mine supply., Constellation EnergyRuns the largest nuclear fleet in the US and sells the always-on clean power that data centers are signing long-term contracts to buy., Uranium Energy CorpUS-based uranium producer that benefits if governments prioritize domestic fuel sourcing and uranium prices stay firm.18%
- Companies pumping oil and gas benefit when the dollar weakens, since energy is priced globally in dollars. · Exxon MobilOwns the largest pile of real energy assets in a single ticker and benefits when the dollar weakens and oil and gas stay geopolitically contested., EQT CorporationOne of the largest US natural gas producers, and data centers pulling power demand makes gas the fastest way to add electricity capacity., Canadian Natural ResourcesOwns oil reserves lasting decades, and barrels priced in dollars hold value better than cash when the currency weakens.16%
- These assets move gas to power plants feeding data centers and collect tolls regardless of commodity prices. · Kinder MorganOwns the largest gas pipeline network in the US, physical steel in the ground that does not shrink when the dollar weakens., Williams CompaniesCollects tolls on gas moving to power plants and data centers, earning on volume regardless of the gas price.8%
