Meta's $825B Supplier Bill

The idea
Meta just disclosed a massive pile of future lease and contract commitments, and I read that as a map of where the money actually flows: to the suppliers on the other side of those deals, not to Meta itself. So this basket owns chips and memory, the networking that links clusters together, the cloud providers Meta rents from, the data center landlords, and the power and grid companies keeping it all running, spread across five groups rather than bet on any single name. I'm holding a modest cash buffer and treating this as a multi-year structural position given how long these contracts run.
What it owns
- Every server Meta contracts for is filled with GPUs, custom accelerators and memory from a handful of makers. · BroadcomIt builds custom AI chips and networking chips for Meta, so it gets paid whether Meta buys GPUs or its own designs., NVIDIAMuch of Meta's cloud and server commitments end up buying its GPUs, either directly or through the clouds Meta rents from., Taiwan Semiconductor ManufacturingIt makes the chips for NVIDIA, AMD and Broadcom, so nearly every chip dollar in Meta's supplier bill passes through its factories., Advanced Micro DevicesIt is the second GPU supplier Meta and its cloud providers can buy from, which matters when NVIDIA supply is tight., Micron TechnologyEvery AI server needs high-bandwidth memory, and it is one of only a few companies that make it for data centers.30%
- Meta's leases explicitly include energy infrastructure, and new data centers cannot run without power plants and grid equipment. · VertivIt sells the cooling and power systems that sit inside every AI data center, and denser chips need more of both., GE VernovaIt makes the gas turbines and grid equipment that new data center power needs, and gets paid before the buildings even open., Constellation EnergyIt runs the largest US nuclear fleet and sells long-term power to data center buyers including Meta., VistraIt owns gas and nuclear plants and has been signing power deals with data center buyers like Meta., EatonIt makes the switchgear, transformers and power distribution equipment that every data center building has to buy., EntergyIt is the utility serving Meta's data center sites, so it earns by building the plants and power lines those sites need.27%
- Much of Meta's spending in cloud contracts is third-party capacity, paid to the providers Meta rents from. · AlphabetMeta rents cloud capacity from Google Cloud, so part of Meta's third-party cloud spending lands with Alphabet., OracleIt sells cloud capacity to AI buyers like Meta and is one of the biggest builders of new AI data centers., CoreWeaveIt rents GPU capacity to big AI buyers including Meta, making it a direct play on Meta's cloud rental spending., Nebius GroupIt is a GPU rental company that Meta buys capacity from, providing an alternative to other neocloudproviders.16%
- Large portions of Meta's lease obligations go to the companies that own, build and finance the buildings. · EquinixIt leases space and connections inside data centers, which is part of the lease obligations Meta listed in its filings., Digital RealtyIt leases large data center buildings to hyperscalers like Meta on long contracts that run years into the future., Blue Owl CapitalIt lends to and invests in data center projects for hyperscalers, so it profits when companies like Meta finance buildings.10%
- AI clusters need fast switches and optical links, and Meta is one of the biggest buyers of that gear. · Arista NetworksIt sells the switches that connect thousands of chips inside Meta's clusters as part of the network gear in those buildouts., CoherentIt makes the optical parts that carry data between servers at high speed, and bigger clusters need far more of them.9%
