Full-Stack Data Center Buildout

The idea
I believe the data center buildout keeps running hot for years across every layer, not just the famous chip names, so this take spreads across chips and compute, power and grid, cooling and electrical gear, builders and landlords, and networking, leaning a bit heavier into the less crowded layers where physical bottlenecks give suppliers pricing power. No single stock dominates the mix, and I keep a small cash reserve to add on dips over a three to five year window. I'd rethink it if the buildout itself stalls, not just if any one name wobbles.
What it owns
- The processors and memory inside every new data center are where the capital spending lands first. · NVIDIA CorporationIt supplies the GPUs that anchor new data center builds as long as hyperscaler capital spending keeps growing., Broadcom Inc.It builds custom AI chips for Google and Meta to reduce reliance on Nvidia, plus networking chips that tie racks together., Taiwan SemiconductorNearly every advanced AI chip gets made at its foundries, so it collects a toll on the entire chips layer., Micron TechnologyIt makes high-bandwidth memory that AI servers need in huge quantities, and is one of only three suppliers in the world., Advanced Micro DevicesIt is the second source for AI GPUs, and multi-year buildouts need a second source to avoid single-supplier risk.23%
- Electricity is the tightest constraint on new data centers, giving generators and grid equipment makers unusual pricing power. · Constellation EnergyIt owns the largest US nuclear fleet and signs power deals directly with hyperscalers, the clearest way to own power scarcity., Vistra Corp.It sells power from gas and nuclear plants in regions where data centers are landing, so tight power markets flow to earnings., GE VernovaIt sells gas turbines and grid equipment with multi-year waitlists that give it pricing power in a capacity-constrained market., NRG EnergyIt sells power in Texas, which is pulling in more data center construction than any other state., Public Service Enterprise GroupIt is a regulated utility with nuclear plants near a major data center corridor, earning more as grids get upgraded.22%
- Denser AI racks run hotter and hungrier, making cooling and power distribution equipment a per-megawatt necessity. · Vertiv HoldingsIt sells cooling and power gear inside data centers, and the shift to liquid cooling for AI chips raises earnings per building., Eaton CorporationIt manufactures the electrical distribution gear and switchgear that every data center must install, and data centers represent its fastest-growing customer segment., Trane TechnologiesIt sells large-scale chillers that cool entire data center buildings, layering data center growth on top of steady commercial demand., nVent ElectricIt makes enclosures and liquid cooling connections for dense server racks, a smaller way to own the cooling shift.17%
- Companies that own, build, and equip the physical buildings collect rent and orders regardless of whose chips win. · EquinixIt owns data center buildings and charges rent regardless of which chipmaker wins the buildout., Quanta ServicesIt builds data centers and transmission lines feeding them, so a multi-year buildout shows up directly in its backlog., Digital Realty TrustIt leases large footprints directly to hyperscalers, capturing the buildout as long-term rent contracts., EMCOR GroupIt does electrical fit-out inside data centers, wiring that has become scarce skilled labor in this buildout.17%
- Every rack of AI chips needs fast connections between them, and gear makers get paid per buildout. · Arista NetworksIt sells switches that connect thousands of GPUs into clusters, and bigger clusters require more switches per compute dollar., Ciena CorporationIt carries traffic between data centers over long-haul fiber, a less crowded layer that depends on cloud and AI traffic growth., Coherent Corp.It makes optical transceivers that turn electrical signals into light inside AI clusters, with each generation requiring faster optics.10%
