SpaceX and Starlink Everywhere
Chelsea@chelsea23
The idea
I believe Starlink becomes the default connection everywhere, from rural homes and planes to ordinary phones, so SpaceX sits at the core alongside the partners that make satellite-to-phone work: T-Mobile and STMicro. A longer-dated leg bets on data centers moving to orbit, through names tied to satellite compute and launch. Tesla rides alongside as a possible merger case, with any position trimmed back if it grows past a set share of the mix, and a slice of cash held in reserve throughout.
What it owns
- These positions bet on AI computing moving to orbit, a longer-dated possibility that would require new chips, power systems and satellite infrastructure. · NVIDIA CorporationIt makes the chips powering most AI computing today, and would supply any orbital data centers that get built., Alphabet Inc.It is funding and testing Project Suncatcher, which explores whether AI data centers can operate profitably in orbit., Planet Labs PBCIt builds and operates satellites, and partners with Google on prototype orbital data center hardware., Rocket Lab USA, Inc.It makes solar cells and satellite components, which orbital data centers would need in large quantities to power themselves in space.29%
- The take centers on SpaceX's long-term growth as Starlink expands to phones, homes, planes and ships while the business moves toward sustained profitability. · Space Exploration Technologies Corp.It operates Starlink and is the core holding of this take, sized at the maximum allowed for a single position.25%
- Tesla and SpaceX have formed special committees to discuss a merger, making Tesla relevant to this take while those discussions continue. · Tesla, Inc.Merger discussions with SpaceX keep this relevant to the take while those formal talks remain active.23%
- These companies benefit directly as Starlink expands from rural internet to phones, homes and moving vehicles, growing their addressable markets. · T-Mobile US, Inc.It partners with Starlink to deliver satellite internet to phones in coverage gaps, the clearest way to own Starlink's phone expansion., STMicroelectronics N.V.It supplies chips for Starlink's home and travel kits, so each new customer adds to its revenue.14%
