The idea
I believe that as AI makes content and intelligence cheap to fake, proof of who's human, what's real, and who can be trusted becomes the scarce resource online. This basket owns the established companies sitting inside that verification plumbing, spread across identity and access, bot detection, fraud and risk scoring, payment trust rails, and content authenticity, leaning on large cash-generating incumbents with smaller pure plays for upside.
What it owns
- Data and scoring firms that lenders and insurers pay to judge whether a person or claim is legitimate, the scarce commodity when proof of trustworthiness matters most. · Fair IsaacIt is the closest thing to a monopoly on scoring whether someone will do what they say at the moment of lending., RELXIts LexisNexis Risk division is one of the biggest sellers of identity and fraud analytics to banks and insurers., EquifaxIt owns one of the deepest vaults of identity and income data, the raw material for verifying people when AI makes fabricating a persona easy., TransUnionIt is the second big consumer data vault, selling identity and fraud verification on top of credit files., NICEIt sells the software banks use to spot financial crime and fraud in real time.27%
- Tools that authenticate content, documents, credentials and identities in a world where AI-generated fakes are effortless and indistinguishable. · AdobeIt leads Content Credentials, the main industry effort to label what's real versus AI-made, built into its tools., VeriSignIt runs the registry behind dot-com, the quiet infrastructure that tells users a website is the website it claims to be., First AdvantageIt verifies people's histories at scale through background checks, turning trusted human judgment into a product., Mitek SystemsIt checks whether IDs and documents are real, exactly the problem that explodes when AI can forge anything.20%
- The infrastructure that separates human traffic from AI-driven bots across the open internet, becoming more valuable as AI makes fakes effortless. · CloudflareIt sits at the front door of a huge share of the internet, deciding what's human and what's bot before traffic gets in., ZscalerIt is built on the idea that no connection is trusted until verified, every user and device checked every time., Akamai TechnologiesIt is the established incumbent in bot detection and web defense, with growth in its bot and security business.17%
- Identity verification before someone gets into an account or system, the front door of the trust rebuild in a world where impersonation is cheap. · OktaIt is the default identity layer thousands of companies already pay for, verifying who's logging in as the first pipe in the plumbing., SailPointIt governs which identities, human or machine, get access to what inside big companies as AI agents multiply., Clear SecureIt is the pure play on proving a physical human is who they claim through biometrics, expanding beyond travel.16%
- Networks that verify both sides of every transaction and collect a toll on that verification, growing as the standard they enforce stays the default. · MastercardIt collects a toll every time money moves and both sides need to trust each other, and keeps deepening that role through acquisitions in identity and fraud., VisaIt verifies billions of transactions a day and sells fraud tools on top, staying the dominant verification network for payments.13%
