Robot Parts Shortage

The idea
I believe humanoid robots are about to hit the same bottleneck memory chips once did, where the deepest, least visible parts of the supply chain become the scarcest. So this basket leans into gears, screws and bearings, rare earth magnets, and the sensors and chips that let a robot sense and move, with a smaller slice in the compute that acts as its brain. I spread across all these layers rather than picking one robot maker, keep some cash on the side, and plan to hold for years since building out this capacity outside China won't happen quickly.
What will be bought
- Precision motion parts are the most cited production bottleneck for humanoid robots, and few factories can make them to specification. · TimkenMakes precision bearings and the gear sets that robot joints depend on, parts that take years to add capacity for and hold their prices., Regal RexnordMakes electric motors, gearboxes and motion parts that combine into the actuators that move a robot's joints, winning orders from automation and robot makers., RBC BearingsMakes hard-to-make specialty bearings that take years for new suppliers to qualify, the sort that stay in short supply and hold their prices., NovantaMakes precision motors, encoders and force sensors that sit inside robot arms and joints, with growing robotics and automation sales., Parker HannifinIt supplies motion control systems and actuators that industrial robots and factories require for increased automation and productivity., AllientA small US maker of precision motors and motion systems, the compact, high-precision motors that robot joints need dozens of and automation orders are driving.38%
- Robot joint motors need rare-earth magnets and copper, and supply outside China cannot grow quickly enough to match rising demand. · MP MaterialsThe biggest US rare earth miner is building magnet making at home, so if robot joint motors drain magnet supply the way memory did, it stands first in line to charge more., USA Rare EarthIs building a US factory to make the neodymium magnets that go in robot motors, sitting deep in the supply chain and depending on reaching real output., Freeport-McMoRanOne of the largest copper miners, and every robot motor is wound with copper, so more motors means more demand on a metal already hard to mine more of., Energy FuelsOne of the few places outside China that separates rare earth oxides, the step right before magnets get made, with rare earth processing growing as part of its business.25%
- Each robot carries dozens of position sensors and motor-control chips, so the chip count rises with every robot built. · Allegro MicroSystemsMakes the magnetic sensors that tell a motor exactly where its shaft is, plus chips that drive motors, and every robot joint needs both., Analog DevicesMakes the precision chips that sense motion and control motors, the layer between a robot's brain and its joints, with growing industrial demand., TE ConnectivityMakes the sensors and connectors that wire every joint, motor and sensor in a robot together, a part count that rises fast with automation growth., STMicroelectronicsMakes motion sensors and the small control chips that run motors, both of which every robot joint uses and industrial designs increasingly demand.20%
- Robots need onboard computers to see and move, a smaller but growing slice of each robot's cost. · NVIDIAIts Jetson computers are the onboard brain many robot makers build on, making it the default robot computer platform., AmbarellaMakes low-power vision chips that let cameras see and process images on the device, which robots need to move around and win in new designs.8%
