Grid Gear, Hands and Space Tests

The idea
I believe the near term AI money goes to whatever is scarce, and that's grid equipment, not chips. Data centers can get processors faster than they can get a hookup, so most of this basket owns transformer, switchgear, and buildout companies with long backlogs, keeping power plants out entirely. A smaller slice bets on robot hand components and satellite testing gear, areas still too early to buy directly. I hold some cash on the side and leave crypto out since I own it elsewhere, planning to hold this for a couple years unless the grid backlog story stops being the bottleneck.
What it owns
- Data centers are waiting years for this equipment, so the companies that make it can sell everything they build. · GE VernovaIt makes the grid gear and power equipment that data centers wait in line for, and its value depends on whether order backlogs for grid and power equipment keep growing faster than it can ship., Eaton CorporationIt sells transformers, switchgear and electrical connections between data centers and the grid, the scarce equipment this take is built on., Hubbell IncorporatedIt makes the utility-side connectors, transformers and grid hardware that utilities need to hook new data centers up to the grid., Powell IndustriesIt builds custom switchgear, the boxes that route and protect power inside big industrial sites and data centers., nVent ElectricIt makes enclosures, connections and liquid cooling gear that house and protect electrical equipment in data centers.40%
- Someone has to install the lines and the power systems inside data centers, and those crews and products are booked up too. · Quanta ServicesIt is the biggest US contractor with crews that build transmission lines and substations, and skilled crews are as scarce as the gear., Vertiv HoldingsIt sells the power and cooling equipment inside data centers, the last step between the grid hookup and the chips., IES HoldingsIt does electrical installation work inside data centers and makes some of the gear itself, so it gets paid for both scarce parts and scarce labor., MYR GroupIt builds high-voltage transmission lines and substations, the long-distance part of getting electricity to new data centers., MasTecIt is a contractor that builds power lines and substations for utilities and data center operators.30%
- A small bet on robot hands through a humanoid maker and the US companies making the sensors and motors inside a hand. · TeslaIt designs its own Optimus robot hands, offering exposure to humanoid robotics as a small side position in this take., NovantaIt makes precision motion parts and force sensors that let robot hands feel how hard they are gripping., Regal RexnordIt makes small motors and actuators that move robot joints and fingers, serving as one of the few US suppliers for humanoid robot parts.11%
- Every satellite and rocket part gets tested before launch, so test instrument makers get paid as launches grow. · Keysight TechnologiesIt makes test instruments that check satellite radios and signals before anything flies to space., Teledyne TechnologiesIt makes space-grade sensors, cameras and test equipment used on satellites and launch hardware.9%
