The idea
I don't see the car market as one race but two speeds. Cities push toward electric and eventually driverless, while rural and mainstream buyers stick with hybrids for years because charging infrastructure and range anxiety are real. So I lean heaviest into hybrid champions and the suppliers who sell into hybrids regardless of badge, with a smaller sleeve in urban EV and robotaxi winners, plus a third in the autonomy chips, sensors and software behind self-driving cars and trucks. I keep some cash on the side and avoid betting the whole thing on one name.
What it owns
- Dense cities offer the charging density and ride density needed for electric vehicles and autonomous fleets to operate profitably at scale. · AlphabetIts Waymo robotaxi service operates in urban environments where driverless fleets can achieve scale and profitability., TeslaIt combines urban electric vehicle sales with expanding robotaxi operations in cities where charging infrastructure supports both., Uber TechnologiesIt operates the ride network that robotaxi operators will use to connect autonomous vehicles with passengers seeking trips., Rivian AutomotiveIt produces electric vans and trucks designed for urban and regional delivery routes where charging density and route predictability support economics., ChargePoint HoldingsIt operates charging networks in urban areas where electric vehicle density and dwell times create profitable locations for fast and level-two chargers.25%
- The chips, sensors and software powering self-driving vehicles generate revenue across all fleet operators, regardless of which autonomy company wins. · NVIDIAIt supplies the computing chips that autonomy platforms rely on to process sensor data and make driving decisions., QualcommIt supplies automotive processors and connectivity chips that support infotainment, telematics and autonomous driving functions., Texas InstrumentsIt manufactures analog and embedded processors that power increasing amounts of vehicle electronics in modern powertrains., Mobileye GlobalIt provides camera-based perception systems for driver assistance that serve as stepping stones toward full vehicle autonomy., Aurora InnovationIt develops autonomous systems for long-haul trucking, applying self-driving technology to freight transport at commercial scale.24%
- Automakers with strong hybrid lineups capture mainstream buyers in regions where charging infrastructure is sparse and range anxiety limits pure electric adoption. · Toyota MotorIt leads the market in hybrid powertrains, capturing buyers who want range and reliability without committing to full electrification., Honda MotorIt sells competitively priced hybrids that appeal to mainstream consumers choosing them over more expensive pure electric alternatives., Ford MotorIt produces hybrid versions of pickup trucks that serve rural markets where electric vehicle charging infrastructure remains limited.22%
- Parts suppliers serving hybrids, electric vehicles and autonomous platforms collect revenue across multiple powertrains and technology transitions. · BorgWarnerIt manufactures hybrid components including turbochargers and transmission systems that multiple automakers integrate into their platforms., AptivIt supplies electrical architecture and wiring harnesses that grow in complexity across hybrids, electric vehicles and autonomous systems., Dana IncorporatedIt makes axles and driveline components for hybrids and electric vehicles, collecting revenue across both powertrains., AutolivIt manufactures safety systems including airbags and restraints that all vehicles require, with additional content in autonomous platforms., GentexIt supplies cabin technology and smart mirrors to all vehicle types regardless of powertrain, diversifying across the market transition.19%
