The idea
I believe AI infrastructure is being built and has plenty of room to grow, but adoption in high-stakes decisions is gated by liability, not capability. Once insurers start writing real AI liability coverage over the next two to three years, the companies deploying AI into sue-able decisions get their markets switched on. So I skip the obvious chip and cloud names and concentrate in autonomous driving, clinical AI, lending and compliance, and safety-critical autonomy, leaning into higher-beta mid-caps alongside a few larger anchors, with 10% cash held to add on dips.
What it owns
- Self-driving cars and trucks are ready to deploy at scale once insurers write coverage for crashes, unlocking the market that liability clarity has held back. · Tesla, Inc.The robotaxi software and cars exist; the unlock is insurance coverage for driverless rides, which would let Tesla deploy at the scale the technology already supports., Uber Technologies, Inc.It deploys third-party driverless cars on its network without holding the crash risk, so insurable autonomous rides expand its margins as fleets get cheaper to operate., Mobileye Global Inc.It supplies the autonomous driving systems carmakers need, and design wins for higher-autonomy platforms inflect once insurers make hands-off driving a sellable product., Aurora Innovation, Inc.It runs driverless trucks in the most sue-able work there is, so lane expansion and customer growth inflect once shippers can offload the crash liability.24%
- AI that reads scans, monitors hearts, or guides surgery scales once the liability for wrong calls becomes insurable, widening hospital adoption. · Tempus AI, Inc.It sells AI that helps doctors make diagnoses and treatment calls where being wrong triggers malpractice liability, so hospital adoption accelerates once that risk becomes insurable., Intuitive Surgical, Inc.It puts machines in operating rooms, the single highest-liability clinical setting, and more autonomy in its systems only ships once the liability question is answered., GE HealthCare Technologies Inc.It deploys AI imaging and diagnostics at hospital scale where a missed reading is a lawsuit, and adoption of its AI features accelerates as insurers cover them., iRhythm Technologies, Inc.Its AI reads heart rhythms and flags problems doctors act on, so clinician trust and prescription volume depend on AI-driven diagnoses becoming insurable.22%
- Defense and government AI buyers demand clear accountability frameworks before deploying autonomous systems in high-stakes decisions, and insurance coverage removes that friction. · Palantir Technologies Inc.It already deploys AI into military targeting and hospital decisions where errors have severe consequences, so it wins more deals as liability clarity expands what buyers will automate., AeroVironment, Inc.It builds drones and autonomous systems for defense where a mistake is catastrophic, and orders grow as buyers get comfortable fielding more autonomous platforms., Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc.It builds unmanned jets and autonomous defense systems, and contract wins for autonomous programs signal that buyers will deploy machines in decisions that need funding and liability clarity.17%
- Banks hold back AI lending because fair-lending lawsuits are expensive; formal liability coverage for credit decisions lets them automate faster and wider. · Upstart Holdings, Inc.Its core product is AI approving loans, one of the most sue-able decisions a machine makes; banks sign on faster once they can insure the fair-lending liability., Fair Isaac CorporationIt sets the standard lenders point to when defending credit decisions, and its AI platform gains as more lending gets automated and needs that defensibility., Pagaya Technologies Ltd.It runs an AI network that approves loans and offloads risk, moving closer to formal liability insurance than anyone else; partner volume grows as coverage becomes standard.15%
- Law firms and compliance teams adopt AI faster once errors in its work become an insurable event rather than an unmanaged risk to the firm. · Thomson Reuters CorporationIt sells AI into legal work where a bad answer loses cases or licenses, and adoption of its tools rises as firms get comfortable that liability becomes manageable., RELX PLCIt owns LexisNexis and risk-compliance data businesses that become more valuable as AI decisions need defending, so adoption rises with liability coverage clarity., UiPath Inc.It sells automation and AI agents into regulated back offices where unsupervised machine mistakes are expensive, and deployment in sue-able work accelerates once the risk is insurable.12%
