The idea
I believe the real edge in AI is shifting to the physical world, where cheap sensors and robots collect data that keeps making the models, and the machines, better. This basket spreads across four parts of that loop: field robots and vehicles gathering data, the sensors and machine vision capturing it, the edge chips processing it on-device, and the platforms turning it into recurring revenue. I mix steadier large names with smaller, higher-upside ones, keep a modest cash buffer, and plan to hold for years as this structural shift plays out.
What it owns
- These companies turn sensor data from trucks, satellites, meters and job sites into software customers pay for every month. · SamsaraIt puts sensors and cameras on trucks, equipment and job sites and sells what they collect back as a monthly subscription, where more customer data makes its AI features better., ItronIts smart meters and grid sensors collect data from homes and utility poles, and utilities pay for the software and services on top., Planet LabsIt runs a big fleet of small satellites that photograph Earth's land about every day and sells that imagery to governments and companies., TrimbleIts precise positioning tech and software turn where things are on construction sites, farms and fleets into data customers pay for by subscription.24%
- These companies already have machines working in the real world, so every shift or mile adds data that makes the next machine better. · Intuitive SurgicalEvery da Vinci surgery produces video and motion data from inside the operating room, which Intuitive uses to improve its robots and sell training and analytics., TeradyneIt owns Universal Robots, which makes cobots that work right next to people on factory floors, and also tests chips, so it gains as more edge AI chips get made., TeslaIts cars send driving data back from the road that trains its self-driving software, making the fleet and the data it collects grow together., SymboticIt runs robot fleets inside big retailers' warehouses, and each new site makes the next one faster to set up, building a data advantage., Aurora InnovationIt builds self-driving trucks for freight routes, and every mile they drive feeds its driving software, turning real-world experience into capability.24%
- Before a model can learn anything about the world, something has to capture the light, sound, depth and motion it learns from. · Analog DevicesIt makes the chips that turn real-world signals like temperature, motion, sound and voltage into data a computer can read across factories, cars and medical devices., Teledyne TechnologiesIt makes thermal cameras, underwater sensors and imaging gear for oceans, defense and space, the hard-to-reach places that need constant data collection., CognexIts vision systems watch production lines and read labels in warehouses, and it is using AI to make them easier to set up., OusterIt makes lidar, sensors that map their surroundings in three dimensions with lasers, for robots, industrial sites, roads and vehicles., Hesai GroupIt makes lidar in big volumes, mostly for Chinese carmakers, and that scale pushes sensor prices down, spreading the technology wider.23%
- Robots, cameras and sensors need chips that run AI on the device itself, cheaply and on little power. · NVIDIAIts Jetson and Thor chips act as the brains inside robots and self-driving systems, and its simulation software trains robots in virtual worlds before they hit the real one., QualcommIts chips run AI on very little power in cars, cameras and industrial devices, handling data where it's collected instead of sending it to a data center., AmbarellaIt designs AI chips that process video right on security cameras, car cameras and robots, handling vision where it happens instead of in the cloud., Lattice SemiconductorIt makes small, low-power FPGAs that sit right next to sensors and handle data before it reaches the main processor, enabling fast local processing.21%
