The idea
I believe the AI buildout runs through a handful of bottlenecks, not just the famous chip names, so the core here is the foundry, equipment makers, networking, and power and cooling gear alongside the well known chip designers. Around that I hold smaller, steadier satellites in large pharma, medtech, industrial automation, and surgical robotics, meant as anchors rather than lottery tickets. I keep a small cash buffer and avoid concentrating in any single name, planning to hold this for years unless the bottleneck thesis itself breaks down.
What it owns
- The suppliers of foundries, equipment, networking and power infrastructure that every chip buildout must pass through. · Taiwan Semiconductor ManufacturingNearly every advanced AI chip, regardless of designer, is manufactured at its foundries, making it a single critical bottleneck in the compute buildout., Arista NetworksIt builds the networking layer that connects thousands of processors together in AI data centers, one of the essential bottlenecks in the compute infrastructure., Vertiv HoldingsIt supplies the cooling and power management systems that data centers require to operate advanced chip infrastructure., ASML HoldingIt is the only manufacturer of the advanced machines needed to produce the most cutting-edge semiconductor chips., Eaton CorporationIt supplies electrical distribution and power management equipment that new data centers require to connect grid power to compute infrastructure., Applied MaterialsIt manufactures the widest range of equipment used in chip fabrication facilities, making it a supplier for nearly every new production line., KLA CorporationIt makes inspection tools that detect defects in advanced chips, with demand growing as semiconductor manufacturing becomes more complex., Micron TechnologyIt manufactures high-bandwidth memory that artificial intelligence servers require in large quantities, a critical supply bottleneck.36%
- The companies whose processors set the standard for training and running artificial intelligence systems. · NVIDIA CorporationIt designs the processors that set the standard for training and running artificial intelligence systems., Broadcom Inc.It designs custom AI processors that large cloud companies order when they seek alternatives to standard off-the-shelf chips., Advanced Micro DevicesIt designs AI processors that serve as an alternative to the leading designer, giving the chip market a credible second source.23%
- Established leaders in industrial automation and surgical robotics with recurring revenue from installed systems. · Intuitive SurgicalIts robotic surgical system dominates the market and generates recurring revenue from instruments and services at hospitals with installed systems., Rockwell AutomationIt sells the control systems and software that factories use to operate and automate manufacturing processes., Emerson ElectricIt supplies automation control systems for industrial plants and process facilities, offering exposure to the robotics and automation trend., Teradyne Inc.It owns a collaborative robotics company and sells test equipment that every new semiconductor chip must pass through before shipping.17%
- Large, diversified pharmaceutical and medical device makers with profitable existing franchises. · Eli Lilly and CompanyIts weight-loss and diabetes drugs are among the best-selling medicines in the world, providing stable, profitable revenue., Novo NordiskIt leads the market in metabolic medicines alongside other major players, capturing a significant share of one of the largest drug markets., Johnson & JohnsonIts diversified portfolio across pharmaceuticals and medical devices provides stable earnings without dependence on any single product., Medtronic plcIt produces established medical devices such as pacemakers and surgical instruments that hospitals purchase and use repeatedly.16%
