Power Squeeze, Both Sides

The idea
I believe electricity demand is outrunning supply, so power prices grind higher while the buildout to catch up takes years. I play both sides: natural gas and uranium as the fuel producers, then the turbine, transformer, and switchgear makers whose backlogs already stretch out for years. Independent power producers round it out since they sell into the rising prices this whole idea depends on, while oil stays out because it's a different market. It's spread across many names with large caps as ballast, a small cash reserve, and built to hold for years, not trade around headlines.
What it owns
- Transformers, turbines, and switchgear are the critical constraint on the buildout, with order backlogs stretching years out. · GE VernovaIt sells the gas turbines and grid equipment the buildout runs on, with a backlog already stretching years., EatonIt makes the electrical gear inside nearly everything being built, earning steadily as the buildout accelerates., Quanta ServicesIt provides the crews that string wire and build substations, getting paid on construction spending itself rather than energy prices., Vertiv HoldingsIt sells the power and cooling gear inside data centers, the single hungriest source of demand in this take., HubbellIt sells the components utilities buy by the truckload when they upgrade transmission and distribution infrastructure., Powell IndustriesIt builds the switchgear that data centers and industrial power projects cannot skip, small enough to move on a multi-year buildout.31%
- These companies sell electricity itself, so higher power prices flow directly into their earnings. · Constellation EnergyIt runs the largest US nuclear fleet, selling carbon-free power into rising electricity prices., VistraIt owns both gas and nuclear plants in tight power markets like Texas, so rising electricity prices flow straight to earnings., NRG EnergyIt sells power to homes and businesses, capturing rising retail electricity prices directly in its earnings., Talen EnergyIt signs deals selling power straight to data centers at premium prices, a direct read on demand outrunning supply.26%
- Gas is the fuel that actually feeds new power demand, so rising electricity prices drive gas volumes and prices higher. · EQT CorporationIt is the largest natural gas producer in the country, positioned to move higher volumes as new power plants demand more fuel., Expand EnergyIt pumps large volumes of Appalachian gas, earning more as rising electricity demand pulls gas prices higher., Cheniere EnergyIt exports US gas to the world, keeping a floor under domestic gas prices while global demand for power fuel grows., Antero ResourcesIt moves more than most producers when gas prices rise, providing sharper exposure to higher gas pricing.22%
- Nuclear restarts and new reactors are colliding with a uranium supply deficit that takes years to fix. · CamecoIt is the largest Western uranium miner, positioned to benefit if utilities sign long-term contracts at rising prices., NexGen EnergyIt owns the largest undeveloped uranium deposit in the West, positioned to benefit if the supply deficit lasts long enough., Uranium Energy CorpIt is restarting US uranium mines into the supply deficit, with additional benefit if the US prioritizes domestic uranium sourcing.13%
