The idea
I believe fans will eventually buy "song stocks," pooling capital into finite onchain pools tied to a song and artist, split among fans themselves, no royalties or copyrights involved. Since the platforms for this don't exist yet, I built a basket of the public layers it would depend on: NFT-capable chains, exchanges and stablecoin plumbing on one side, and labels, streaming, live events, and betting culture on the other, which already score songs and monetize fandom today.
What it owns
- Fans need regulated pathways to convert dollars into stablecoins and move capital onchain to participate in pools. · Coinbase GlobalIt is the primary US doorway for converting dollars into crypto, a requirement before fans can move capital into onchain pools., Robinhood MarketsThe retail users most likely to buy song stocks already trade crypto and stocks through it, and its young audience keeps growing., Circle Internet GroupIts stablecoin is the leading regulated unit for holding capital in onchain consumer pools and fan economies., Galaxy DigitalIt provides the institutional infrastructure of trading, custody, and financing that platforms would need to build song pools at scale.22%
- Labels, live events, and direct fan spending show where artist upside currently shows up in public markets. · Sony GroupIts music label reaches more artists that fans would pool capital behind than any other label owner., Live Nation EntertainmentIt proves that superfans spend substantial money on tickets, experiences, and merchandise, the same impulse song stocks would channel into pools., Warner Music GroupIt produces a steady pipeline of songs and artists worth betting on, the supply that would feed pools., Sphere EntertainmentIt shows fans paying top dollar for premium artist experiences, demonstrating demand for the high end of fandom spending.22%
- Song-stock pools would settle as tokens on blockchains, so adoption of these networks means more activity flowing through them. · EthereumMost NFT and smart-contract activity already settles here, making it the default chain for consumer onchain products., SolanaConsumer crypto apps choose it for transactions that cost pennies, the only way ordinary fans can stake small amounts repeatedly., ChainlinkPools that resolve on timelines fans set need trusted data brought onchain to settle outcomes, and it is the dominant oracle network., OptimismIt makes Ethereum cheap enough for small fan-sized stakes, so if pools settle on Ethereum, most consumer activity likely happens on layers like this.22%
- Streaming platforms measure song performance, and pools would most likely resolve against their data. · Spotify TechnologyIts streaming data would be the scoreboard that pools most likely resolve against, making it the global reference for song performance., Tencent Music EntertainmentIt already runs fan-payment systems at scale where users support artists directly beyond listening, proving the behavior works.13%
- Mainstream retail wagering on outcomes normalizes the behavior that song-stock pools would depend on from fans. · Flutter EntertainmentIt is the largest company riding mainstream wagering culture, which normalizes retail outcome betting for fans., DraftKingsIt trained millions of US retail users to stake money on outcomes from their phone, the exact behavior song pools would depend on.9%
