The idea
I believe Arizona's fab buildout, TSMC in Phoenix and Intel in Chandler, sends real money upstream over the next couple of years, so I built a basket of the suppliers those fabs depend on rather than the fab owners themselves. It leans toward tool makers filling the cleanrooms, plus test and packaging, materials and gases, and metrology names tied to the ramp, with Amkor's Peoria site as the most direct Arizona anchor. No single name dominates, and I kept some cash aside to add on dips as the buildout plays out.
What it owns
- Every new fab line starts as purchase orders for the machines that etch, deposit and pattern the chips. · Applied MaterialsIt sells the widest range of machines that fill a new cleanroom, so it collects on nearly every tool order TSMC and Intel place as they ramp., Lam ResearchIt makes the etch and deposition machines every advanced fab buys by the hundreds, showing up directly in the order book as Arizona ramps., KLA CorporationIts inspection machines are what a new fab leans on hardest while learning to make good chips, which is the ramp phase Arizona is in., ASML HoldingIt is the only company that makes the lithography machines advanced fabs need, so any real expansion at TSMC Arizona means its shipments rise.26%
- Chips made in Arizona need testing and packaging nearby, the fastest-growing layer around Phoenix. · Amkor TechnologyIt operates a packaging plant in Peoria built to finish chips from nearby TSMC fabs, making it the single most direct Arizona play in the take., TeradyneIt sells the machines that test chips before they ship, and every wafer from the Arizona lines needs testing somewhere in the chain., FormFactorIt makes the probe cards that touch every wafer during test, a consumable that gets repurchased as volumes grow., Kulicke & SoffaIt sells the equipment that packaging plants like Amkor's Peoria site fill their floors with as Arizona capacity builds out.21%
- Fabs consume industrial gases, chemicals and filters every day they run, and suppliers built plants next to the Arizona sites. · EntegrisIt sells the filters, chemicals and handling materials fabs consume every day they run, earning money from buildout and from every wafer Arizona produces., Air Products and ChemicalsIt is building plants beside Arizona fabs to supply industrial gases under long contracts, with steady revenue that scales as the fabs use more gas., LindeIt builds and runs gas plants next door to fabs under long contracts, the literal supplier-moving-in story of Arizona fab growth.18%
- The power supplies, gas delivery and vacuum parts inside every tool are bought in volume as tools ship. · MKS InstrumentsIt makes the parts inside nearly every fab machine, so every tool shipped to Arizona carries its components., Advanced Energy IndustriesIt supplies the precision power systems built into fab tools, getting paid one layer upstream of the machines going into Phoenix cleanrooms., Ultra Clean HoldingsIt assembles subsystems and whole modules for the big tool makers, so its factories fill up when more machines ship to Arizona., Ichor HoldingsIt builds the gas delivery systems inside fab tools, with most of its business tied to the equipment spending this take bets on.13%
- New fabs run heavy on measurement and defect-hunting gear while they work up to good yields. · Onto InnovationIts measurement tools are bought heavily while a fab dials in its process, which is the next couple of years for Arizona., Nova LtdIt sells the process control gear fabs use to keep advanced chipmaking on track, and new lines like TSMC Arizona need the most of it., CamtekIt inspects chips at the packaging stage, and the Phoenix area is where packaging capacity is being built.10%
