The idea
I believe AI's bottleneck is energy, not chips, and the market still hasn't caught up to that. This basket owns the physical supply chain behind it: gas pipelines and LNG export earning on contracts now, plus grid equipment, utility-scale solar, and power producers striking hyperscaler deals for the longer buildout. It's spread across many names rather than betting on one operator, with a small cash buffer, and the thesis holds as long as data center power demand keeps outrunning supply.
What it owns
- Data centers are contracting gas supply directly, and pipelines near Texas and Appalachia capture that demand through long-term fees. · Williams CompaniesIt owns Transco, the primary gas pipeline from the Gulf to the East Coast, serving power plants that feed growing data center demand., Kinder MorganIt operates a major share of Texas gas pipelines, exactly where data centers are being built and gas demand is rising., Energy TransferIt is signing contracts to deliver gas directly to data center sites for on-site power generation rather than grid delivery., Enterprise Products PartnersIt owns fee-based gas pipelines and processing plants that generate stable income as long as gas volumes grow with electricity demand., ONEOKIt gathers and processes gas at the wellhead, so more gas burned for power generation increases volume through its plants., DT MidstreamIt is the pure play on Appalachian gas reaching the nearby data center corridor through new pipeline capacity and contracts.30%
- Every new gigawatt of capacity requires transformers, switchgear, and installation crews, with multi-year equipment backlogs across the industry. · GE VernovaIt makes gas turbines and grid equipment that convert megawatts into usable power, with order backlogs extending years ahead., Quanta ServicesIt provides the construction crews that build transmission lines and substations, with skilled labor being a critical bottleneck in the buildout., EatonIt makes electrical switchgear and power distribution systems that every new data center requires for internal infrastructure., HubbellIt supplies connectors, enclosures, and utility components consumed across every grid infrastructure upgrade and expansion project.19%
- Solar is the fastest new power source that can be built at scale, so massive deployments absorb data center electricity demand over multiple years. · First SolarIt manufactures utility-scale solar panels in the US, capturing both the solar expansion and domestic-content manufacturing credits., NextrackerIt manufactures solar trackers that tilt panels toward the sun, a required component in nearly every utility-scale solar installation., Array TechnologiesIt manufactures solar trackers at lower cost than leading competitors, positioned to gain share if utility-scale solar orders accelerate.15%
- Global gas demand from the AI power buildout flows through a small number of US export terminals locked into long-term contracts. · Cheniere EnergyIt is the largest US LNG exporter with most capacity locked into long-term contracts that pay regardless of spot gas prices., Venture GlobalIt builds LNG export terminals faster and cheaper than competitors, a concentrated bet on gas demand if new terminals open on schedule., Golar LNGIt deploys floating LNG plants on ships, unlocking gas fields that cannot justify permanent onshore infrastructure.13%
- Generators signing direct long-term power contracts with hyperscalers capture premium prices for scarce, reliable electricity. · VistraIt operates gas and nuclear power plants in Texas, where data center power demand is most acute and prices are highest., Constellation EnergyIt operates the largest US nuclear fleet and has signed long-term power contracts with major hyperscalers for around-the-clock clean power., Talen EnergyIt sells power directly to data centers under long-term contracts, including nuclear generation backing major data center supply deals.13%
