The idea
I believe physical AI, robots doing real work in surgery, warehouses, factories and on the road, is the next big platform shift, and the compute behind it is dominated by one chip maker. This basket owns the robots themselves, the chips that run them, and a software layer often missed: the simulation and design tools used to build and train robots, plus the fleet and factory software that runs them once deployed. I trimmed overlapping broad robotics funds down to one as a catch-all for winners I can't pick individually, and I keep a cash buffer rather than going all in on any single name.
What it owns
- Companies whose robots are already earning revenue today in operating rooms, warehouses and factories. · Intuitive SurgicalSurgical robots already do real work in operating rooms and need to keep growing procedure counts as new competitors arrive., SymboticAutomates distribution centers for major retailers and needs its deployment backlog to convert into installed systems., Rockwell AutomationProvides the controls and systems that factory robots plug into on real production lines as automation spending climbs.26%
- Tools robots are designed and trained in, plus the software that runs them once deployed in the field. · Cadence Design SystemsProvides design tools that every new robot chip, including those for AI compute, gets built with as robotics grows., SynopsysCovers chip design and simulation tools robots are developed in, and needs AI and robotics design spending to keep rising., PTC Inc.Digital twin software lets factories design and run robot-heavy plants, and needs manufacturers to keep adopting it., Palantir TechnologiesRuns deployed fleets of machines and people once robots are in factories and logistics with operations AI software., SamsaraManages fleets of physical assets and equipment on the deployed layer, and needs large customers using its platform., AutodeskProvides design tools robots and the factories around them get drawn and planned in as automation projects multiply.22%
- Robots run on chips, and these companies make and test the compute layer every robot depends on. · NVIDIA CorporationDominates the compute layer that robots depend on from simulation through training to deployment in the field., TeradyneTests chips the whole stack depends on and owns cobots that sell into factories, touching both brains and deployed robots.20%
- Smaller, riskier bets on robots that move through the world on their own, where the payoff could be large. · TeslaThe moonshot rests on Optimus humanoids moving from demos to real deployments and robotaxi scaling beyond cars., Serve RoboticsPuts delivery robots on sidewalks doing paid work today and needs to keep growing deliveries and city coverage., Richtech RoboticsSmall bet that service robots in restaurants and hospitality become real work, and must show growing paid deployments.15%
